Description
The George Tate House survives as a symbol of the mast trade in the development of colonial Maine. Britain claimed for its use all trees appropriate to making masts for its naval vessels.
This 1931 photograph captures a view of the Tate House at the time of its purchase and restoration by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in Maine.
